Puranic Significance

The origins of the Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple are rooted in divine intervention and devotion:

Divine Dream of Aryaachar: A devout Brahmin named Aryaachar from Srimushnam received a vision of Lord Yoga Narasimha in his dream. The Lord revealed that a washerman was unknowingly washing clothes on his sacred image carved on a stone. The Lord instructed Aryaachar to recover the stone and carry it until it became too heavy to bear, marking the location for its consecration.
Discovery and Installation: Aryaachar discovered the washerman and turned the stone, revealing the Yoga Narasimha carving. Following the Lord’s instructions, Aryaachar carried the stone until he reached the banks of the Kaveri River at Chintalavadi, where he consecrated the deity.
Intervention of Vyasaraja: During a period of drought and forest fires in Chintalavadi, Saint Vyasaraja, who was then residing in Srirangam, traveled to the village. He located the Yoga Narasimha idol and began performing Abhishekam and poojas, bringing prosperity to the region. Vyasaraja also installed additional deities, including Gopala Krishna and Madhwa, establishing the temple’s spiritual significance.

The temple continues to attract devotees from across the country, serving as a revered pilgrimage site for the Madhwa community.
