Introduction
Chidambaram Sri Saktibala Naramugavinayagar Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesh, located in the Chidambaram circle, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Sri Saktibala Naramugavinayagar. When he was created by Parvati, the child had a human face, and then Lord Shiva harvested a human head and assumed the head of an elephant. Thus, the first created child was called Adhivinayakar or Naramugavinayakar. Naran means man. This temple was in the south side of Chidambaram nagar with a Chola Era structure. The height of the temple has reached the same level as the road and the temple has sprouted plants without maintenance and a new stone temple has emerged. In the temple there is Saktibalavinayakar, a human deity facing north. He is called Adhivinayagar because he was present in Nataraja Temple as well. He has a child’s face, strange teeth, and a chalice in his left hand and a ring in his right hand. The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old. It is believed that those who worship at this temple will be cured of all diseases and blessed with peace & prosperity.
