Introduction
Sri Kodandarama Swamitemple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Buchireddypalem, SPSR Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Construction on the temple began in 1765 by Sri Dodla Rami Reddy, also known as ‘Bangaru Rami Reddy’, a member of the family which established Buchireddypalem circa 1715–16. Completed in the year 1784, Brahmotsavams have been held every year since, commencing on the Sri Rama Navami day, which falls in the Chaitra month (April–May) of the calendar.
Puranic Significance
The presiding deity is Sri Kodandarama Swamy along with Sita Devi and Lakshmana Swamy. The other deities Chaturbahuvu Lakshmi Ammavaru, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, Tamil Poet-saint Andal Ammavaru are also installed in the main temple.
Sri Kodandarama Swami Temple is constructed in the year 1784 by Sri Dodla Rami Reddy known as Bangaru Rami Reddy. The temple has a beautiful rajagopuram which made up of limestone with images of gods and goddesses carved on it. The Temple has a Koneru in which devotees take a holy dip. This Koneru is enclosed within the four walls around it. As per the legend, Lord Vishnu wanted to visit Bhooloka along with His consort Goddess Sridevi. He said Adisesha to be the place as Lord’s residence to stay at Bhooloka. Obeying the order of the Lord, Adisesha took the form as a mountain in this place. Thus the place is called as Talpagiri Kshethra. It is believed that sage Kashyapa performed Poundarika Yaga on Ekadasi day here. Lord appeared and blessed him
