Brahmacharini- On the second day of the Navaratri festival, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped as the form of Durga.

The term ‘Brahma’ refers to penance or deep meditation. Goddess Brahmacharini appears in a very simple form, holding a kamandalu (water pot) in her right hand. Notably, this form of Durga does not have any vehicle (vahana).

It is said that she performed intense penance for thousands of years to marry Lord Shiva. Her powerful penance shook the three worlds, and finally, Lord Shiva married her, according to the puranic story.

Brahmacharini is the embodiment of wisdom, knowledge, and gratitude. Worshipping her bestows patience and removes lethargy, bringing vitality and energy to the devotee.

Brahmacharini Mantra:
“Dadhana Kara Padmabhyam Akshamala Kamandalu
Devi Prasidatu Mayi Brahmacharini Nuthanam”

This mantra is a prayer to Brahmacharini, seeking her blessings for well-being and devotion.
