Introduction

Boothangudi Mukodeeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Boothangudi village, Mayiladuthurai circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. The town is a Small village with four streets. To its north-east is this Shiva temple. Presiding deity is called as Mukodeeswarar and Mother is called as Meenakshi. The Lord facing east side and Ambika is on his left and she is also facing east side. A long hall connects the two sanctuaries, in which Nandi facing the lord. There are Ganesha and Murugan shrines at the sanctum sanctorum gate. There are Tenmugan in Sanctum. Near the Gomukah is the Sandesar shrine. In the north-east there are idols of Shani Bhairava Nagas are presented. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
