Introduction
B Agraharam is a small Village in Pennagaram Block in Dharmapuri District of Tamil Nadu State, India. It comes under Anjehalli Panchayath. It is located 24 KM towards west from District head quarters Dharmapuri. B. Agragaram Muniyappan Temple is a village deity temple in Tamil Nadu. This temple is one of the most famous temples in the district. Once upon a time, when the Anandas lived in large numbers, it was given the name of Bilianur Agraharam and now it is called B. Agraharam. Muniyappan is the source of the temple, a simple deity who chases away evil spirits and bestows favored powers. Sitting 25 feet high and 12 feet wide on a platform. On either side of the swastika-shaped Moolavar are beautifully decorated statues of a horse, a soldier and a knight.
Puranic Significance
An incident is said to have taken place in the background of the construction of a temple dedicated to Muniyappa Swami. One day a man who was cutting wood while going alone in the forest suddenly collapsed due to ill health. At that moment a man who had been there lifted the victim, put him on a horse, crossed the forest border and drove him into the city. The victim returned to normal as soon as he reached the town border. He then reported the incident to the villagers. They realized that the person who came on horseback was Muniyappa Swami, the guardian deity. The people of the village continue to build a temple in B. Agraharam and worship it.
Festivals
Special worships are held for Muniyappan on festive days like Tuesday and Adiperu, Thaipongal. The festival is held on the second Tuesday of the month of March and is very popular. Millions of devotees attend the festival with their families.
