Introduction

Aparanadari Kashi Vishwanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Aparanadari village, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Aparanadari is located 3 km south-west from the junction on the Nagapattinam-Thiruvarur National Highway. In the middle of it, Perumal is reclining on the bank of Periyakulam. There are two Shiva temples in this town. The first one is at the front of the town, he is Arunasaleshwar, and another temple is Vishwanatha, on the eastern bank of the big pond, by the roadside. This temple is within sight of Perumal temple this Vishwanath temple is in a state of disrepair.

The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. The surrounding walls have collapsed. Roots from above descend to the ground and split the walls. Before the sanctum sanctorum is a hall. The hall has gates on the east and south. The Presiding deity is called as Lord – Kashi Vishwanath and Mother is called as Lord – Kashi Vishalakshi. The Lord is in small linga form and Ambika is also small. The Nandi in front of the Lord is also small in size. Ganesha is on one side of the sanctum gate. The sanctum sanctorum is empty. Sandesar is also missing in the temple.
