Introduction

Alivalam Kashiviswanatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Alivalam village, Thiruvarur taluk, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Alivalam is four kilometres east of this town and one kilometre further east there are two Shiva temples and temples of other village deities. The first is Bhoomi Nath and the second is Vishwanath. This temple is small but significant temple in the village.

Puranic Significance

Once upon a time, a native of this place married a maiden from Kasinagar. She does not eat without visiting Vishwanath. In such a situation, the sister who has come from a long distance is fasting without seeing God and not being able to eat, the husband’s family is left with no idea what to do and is unable to prevent food shortages. It is through her psychic power that the woman informs the child.

They enshrine the Lord in a form of Vishwanath, Along with him comes Kashi Vishalakshi. After this, he gave up his fasting for many months and visited Kasinathan and ate. Even after many generations, the pujas are held without diminishing that commitment. The family has done a lot of potting lately. So those who go here can attain the glory of going to Kasi because it is the equivalent of Kasi. And those who pray for the blessing of children will get immediate results after worshiping this temple.

The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. The small temple of Lord is towards the east and Ambikai is towards the south. Even though the temple is simple, it has a good charm with Vishwanath and Visalakshi. In Karurai Kottam there is Tenmugan and Durga.
