Introduction
Akilampet Jambugeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Akilampet village, Nannilam circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Akilampet; Adjacent to Inchikudi in the south of Peralam. Alternatively, a small road leads south from Peralam on the Peralamkarai Road, and after 2 kms, there is a small town and a small temple on the banks of the Nadara River. This place is called as Akilam-pettai after the name of goddess Akilandeswari, Mother who protects the universe.
Here the Lord is called as Jambugeswarar and Mother is called as Akilandeswari. The Lord is towards the east, opposite the Lord is the beautiful Nandi. At the gate of Karurai is Vinayakar and Balamurugan are in the small floor. Only Tenmugan is in Karurai Kottam. The Mother is facing south. She is the favourite deity of the local people. The Temple is believed to be 800 years old.
