Introduction

Adiyamangalam Shiva Temple is located in the Adiyamangalam village, Mayiladuthurai circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. Adiyamangalam was once given as Adiyar Mangalam and now it is called as Adiyamangalam. There was a Shivalayam in this village, but due to the change of time, the temple was destroyed and it was called Lingathadi Thital as only Linga was there. The people of the area have been worshiping it for many years. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.  God is present in a slightly larger scale. Nearby, Audaiyar is seen broken. There is also a Nandi in front of the lord. They worshiped the Lord for some time. Through the efforts of some servants, a Ganesha and Moonjeli have been added, constructed with bamboo cross trenches and tinned. Some idols are said to have been found while clearing the canal near the temple. They are Surya Murugan and Yoganarasimha. Also some sanctum sanctorum stones have been found. Looking at these, it can be predicted that it is a 12th century Chola temple.
