  • Significance: Adambar is one of the five auspicious Pancha Rama Kshetras in Thiruvarur District, along with Thillaivilagam, Paruthiyur, Vaduvur, and Mudikondan. The temple is located about 7 km from Achuthamangalam and 123 km from Trichy.

  • Hathambar (Adambar): Where Lord Rama decided to kill the golden deer after realizing it was a trick.
  • Kollumangudi: Where the deer (actually the demon Mareecha) was slain.
  • Nallamangudi: Where Sita first saw the deer.
  • Valangaiman: The path the deer took while fleeing.
  • Padagacheri: Where Sita dropped one of her ornaments.
  • Thatakanthapuram: Where Rama chased and killed the demon Tataka.

Special Features

  • Temple Structure: Though small, the temple is closely associated with the Ramayana. The entrance has a single-tiered gopuram adorned with stucco images of Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman, and Rama.
  • Historical Inscriptions: A granite slab at the entrance records that the last Maha Samprokshanam (consecration) was performed on 27th June 2002 under the guidance of Sri Krishna Premi Swamigal.
  • Shrines:
    • The main deity is Ranganathar, while Rajagopala Swamy is the temple’s Urchavar (processional deity).
    • The Kothanda Rama shrine is particularly notable, with beautifully crafted images of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman, along with a representation of Mareecha, the demon disguised as a deer.
    • The main sanctum houses Ranganatha with his consort Ranganayaki. There is also a small shrine for Garudazhvar in the prakaram (outer courtyard).
