Introduction
Veeraperumanallur, a village on the western border of Cuddalore district, is located 14 km west of Panruti. It is a town named after the Pandya king Veeraperuman who lived in the 14th century. There is a Shiva temple and a Vaishnava temple in this town. The days move on to a one-time puja. The old man is the only priest. It is not known whether the Shiva temple dates back to the 13th century, but the statues found in the temple date back to antiquity. The name Vyakrapuriswarar is given to the Lord here as it is the place of worship of Vyakrapadar. Goddess Tripurasundari is facing south.
Puranic Significance
The east facing temple however is south of the main gate. The one-acre temple connects the two shrines of the Lord Goddess Hall. There is one big Ganesha in it. To the south is the Saptamadhar Gallery and many ancient temple statues lined up. At the back of the prakaram are the shrines of Ganesha and Murugan. Ganesha, Thenmugan, Vishnu and Brahman are in the sanctum sanctorum. Adjacent to the north wall is a large Vanni tree and lingam. The oldest Sundance statue is handcrafted on the thigh. To the northeast is the Navagraha Hall. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K. Vijayan, these are extracted from his posts”.
