Introduction

In Uthiramerur town another ancient Siva temple exists, called Kedhareeswarar temple. Till recently this temple was in bad shape and now under renovation. The Moolavar is called Sri Kedharesswarar and His consort is called Sri Kedhara Gowri. Several inscriptions in this temple reveal the donations offered to this temple by various rulers, during variousl periods. This temple is significant for taking “kedhara gowri viratham” on the day of Deepawali. Many devotees come here on the day of Deepawali and worship the Lord , and Kedhara Gowri ambal.
