Introduction

Thandalam is a village in the Sriperumbudur taluk of Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu, India. It is in the National Highway 4 or State Highway 84 at Sira Bypass. It is the village near the Chembarambakkam lake. This temple was built in the year 1011 A.D, 10 years before the construction of Tanjore Big Temple, by Rajaraja Chola. The temple is fully built by bricks and lime paste. The temple has been ravaged by time and only garbhagraham and ardhamandapam are remaining. The presiding deity is Sri Thiruvikkola Eswarar. Other Deities of Sri Dakshinamoorthi, Sri Maha Visnu, Sri Brihma, Sri Durgai, Sri Chandikeswarar, Sri Ambal, are simply placed on the floor of Ardhamandapam. Appar, Sundaraar, Thirugnanasampandar and Manickavasakar statues are also present. One Mr. Balachandar 9994323757 is doing pujas in this temple. The present condition of the temple is completely dilapidated.
