Although his name is Guttar, he was given the name Ottakkuttar because he is good at ‘running’ (betting) He wrote Dakshaya Parani, Andattuparani, Etti Ezhupathu and Uttararamayanam. He later stayed at Italam and preached goodwill to the people. A small lingam is found on top of the tomb. It is said that Rajaraja II set up a school for himself near the tomb of the giraffe after his death due to his attachment to his guru. It is considered to be the school of Rajaraja II.
