Introduction
The temple is about 4 to 5 feet below the ground level with steps to climb down. Facing east with a stucco Nandhi arch (under construction) on the south side. Palipedam and nandi are on the east side in front of the open muka mandapa The sanctum sanctorum consists of Sanctum, antarala, arthamandapa and mukamandapa. Entrance to the sanctum sanctorum is from south with a porch (supported by two pillars) on a raised platform. The sanctum is with simple padma bandha adhisthana. An ekathala vimana over the Sanctum. The bitti or the walls are supported by pilasters without any koshta. The prastaram is with kabotham. The Vimana is partially dilapidated condition. Chandikeswarar is in a separate reconstructed sannadhi facing west. Nagars are under a tree It was told that the temple was constructed during Chozha period, may be during 12 th to 13 th century. Inscriptions are not found to prove the same.
