Introduction

Sokkanavur is a small village located at a distance of 10 km from Madukkur in Thanjavur district. On the way to Perukavazhnthan, Madukkur temple is located. This Shiva temple is completely disrepair. The temple, which is found with brick construction, was renovated many years ago and now looks like it is in ruins again. The temple has a separate sanctum sanctorum for Swami and Ambal. At present the hall without a roof has a trees in its shaded hall with Lord Shiva, two Ambals, Valli-Deivana with Murugan Chandikeswarar, Nandi, Ganesha blessing.
