Introduction
On the Kollumangudi-Tirunelveli road, if you go 2km, there is a stop at Pozhakudi. Pozhakudi can be reached by taking the road to the south, about 1 km from here. The name Pozhakudi may have come from the town where the Polars lived. The Lord is the linga idol of Brahmapuriswarar facing east and Lord Ambika stands facing east with a separate temple to the left and blesses him. The goddess is called Atulya Kujambika here. There are no proper priests for temple worship and a lady belonging to the temple staff welcomes everyone. The Theertham, a temple with two specialties as Naga dosham Parikaram. The temple is in a state of disrepair.
Puranic Significance
The Lord saw the two of them competing as the mightiest of the Vayu Bhagavan, He curses both, just as Brahman is cursed for forgetting his self and falling asleep and for stopping the creative profession. Knowing the specialty of Pozhakudi Tirtha as stated in the Thirugnanasambandar entry, Brahman was cursed as he came to this place and drowned in the Tirtha pond here. The head history is drawn in the hall on the way from the tower gate to the sanctuary. There is a snake and an altar near Nandi opposite the Lord here. It is said that Bombay is an addiction and here too, like Thirupampuram, Naga dosham can be remedied and benefited. Ganesha has a separate sanctum sanctorum and a separate sanctum sanctorum with Lord Murugan Valli at the back of the sanctum sanctorum. The Sandesar Sanctuary is a separate hall with a separate sanctum sanctorum. Two sages can be seen sitting in the south facing shrine. Adjacent to it are four Nagar idols.
