Introduction

Madurantakam is located in the Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu. You can reach Cheyyur on the Chennai-Pondi ECR road and from there reach the town at a distance of 8km on the Maruvathur road. Eesan Periyavenmani, who was worshiped by Arjuna during the Pandavas’ exile, has a temple in this village. There are also temples dedicated to Daruma, Beaman, Nakulan, Sakadevan, Kundi Devi and Draupadi in this area. The temple is in a dilapidated condition and needs to be rebuilt. It is rare to see Ganapati seated on the Padmasana and in a yoga position, and the sculptures of Parvati, Parameswaran, Thevar and Rishis seated around are eye-catching. There are also sculptures of Jashta Devi and Hayagriva. Moolavar Sri Arjuneswarar on a square pedestal facing east. The lingam made of Narmada is worshiped twice in this temple. Tirukulam is located opposite the temple.
