Introduction

On the Chennai-Trichy National Highway, next Pukkathurai bus stands at Chengalpattu and travels east for about 1 km. In the distance is the village of Palamathur. Passing through the fields, the shrine offers a view of the island in the middle of the groves amidst the thorn bushes. Swami Sri Kalahasteeswarar faces west in the sanctum sanctorum of this completely ruined temple. The idol of Ambal was not found. There are no idols other than the broken Sri Dakshinamoorthy. The pillars have embossed sculptures of Srivinayagar and Murugan. The temple is near Tirukulam No pooja is held here. The villagers come here only on the full moon day and worship by lighting lamps.
