Introduction

It is located on the east bank of the river Periyakulam. The exact period of the temple is not known. It may have been built 400 years ago with learning. The oldest Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple is located in the Melmandai. It is located in the Thoothukudi district, 20 km off the Sayalgudi-Thoothukudi East Coast Road. Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple was the first temple to be built in the upper region. During the Zamin period it was very influential and uniform. There was real estate in many places. Currently, only the temple and its surroundings remain. The income from these helps in the maintenance of the temple. Worship at the temple is held in the morning and evening. The temple has two gates. The Sundareswarar pedestal is located towards the east gate and the Meenakshiamman pedestal is located towards the south gate. There are idols of Lord Shiva, Meenakshi, Subramanian, Ganesha, Chandikeswarar, Byravar, Datsanamoorthy, etc.
