Introduction

Lonar Wagh Mahadev Temple is dedicated to lord shiva. This temple is located in the lonar, Buldana District in Maharashtra state. Wagh mahadeo Temple, Mor Mahadeo Temple are in a cluster of ruins shiva temple just by the bank of the Lonar Lake. You can see broken pillars and facades scattered around the temple. The temple is believed to be built during the 13th century. However, this temple also houses a large flock of bats which reside inside and are very noisy. There is no idol in the temple. The temple dedicated to Shiva, is locally known as Wagh Mandir (16.71×12.54×6.71m). The door frame has a moulded base which depicts the kirtimukhas, lozenges, and architectural motifs. The ceiling of the mandapa and antrala is built in trabeate fashion and the central slab is decorated with lotus medallions.
