Introduction
Kanchipuram Shiva temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in Kanchipuram district. There is a tire shop on Kamaraj Road, Kanchipuram. The oldest temple is located at the back of the shop. No one knew about this temple as there were buildings and shops all around. The temple that had been hidden behind the shop for many years is now revealed. Subsequently, the area was visited by a large number of people.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. There is no information about the history of the temple. The presiding deity is called as Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam and Nandi is placed outside the sanctum sanctorum. And there is no other deity in the temple. The temple is full of tire and broken pillars. There have been various cases in the court regarding this temple. Whether the temple belongs to an individual or to the Lingayat community will be decided on the basis of the documents provided by them. It will be decided on the basis of the documents whether they will keep this place which is said to be currently occupied by themselves or if they give it to the Hindu Temple Department and turn it into a better temple for all to come and worship.
