Introduction
Bettada Byraveshwara temple an ancient temple located on pandavara gudda hill near Mekanagadde in Sakleshpura taluk of Hassan district, Karnataka. The temple is over 600 years old. It is a small Hindu temple built with black stones in Kadamba style architecture. The place is also home to ample mysteries and historical significance. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is said that the Pandavas in Mahabharata stayed here for a short span of time when they were exiled. It is at the peak of a hill; It is believed that God Byreshwara guards the entire valley. A steep, motorable road leads to the temple. The temple has no priests nor are any rituals performed on a regular basis, but the temple is partially ruins. An Abhishekam Puja is performed once in a year in January. On this occasion a large number of people from the adjoining villages gather here.
