Introduction
Agarakondagai shiva temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the Agarakondagai village, Nagapattinam circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamilnadu. Here the presiding deity is called as Kailasanathar. And Mother name is unknown. This small town is located between Tittacherry and Thirumalairayan Pattinam. The temple is not adequately maintained and the pujas do not seem to be conducted properly. Even those in the nearby house do not seem to be involved with the temple.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. There is also a large pond to the east of the temple. Although there is a gate on both the side of the temple, the gate on the south is the main one. Lord Kailasanathar is facing east. The goddess has a shrine facing south. A large hall connects the two shrines. Nandi is housed in a separate hall outside the Sanctum. To the northwest is Murugan Valli Deivanai. The sanctum divisions include Tenmugan and Durga. There is a well to the northeast and the Navagraha Mandapam nearby.
