Nandi Puja is a way for devotees to express their love and devotion to Nandi, the loyal companion of Lord Shiva. It is a ritual that emphasizes the virtues of devotion, loyalty, and seeking divine blessings for a righteous and spiritually enriched life.
Auspicious Days: While Nandi Puja can be performed on any day, it is often conducted on auspicious occasions, Mondays (considered especially sacred to Lord Shiva), and during festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Rituals:
- Cleaning and Decoration: The area around the idol or image of Nandi is cleaned and decorated with flowers, leaves, and other auspicious items.
- Offerings: Devotees offer various items such as milk, yogurt, honey, ghee, and other sacred substances to Nandi. Some also offer fruits, flowers, and betel leaves.
- Mantras and Prayers: Vedic mantras and prayers dedicated to Nandi and Lord Shiva are recited during the puja. Devotees seek the blessings of Nandi for strength, protection, and divine favor.
