Makar Sankranti festival dedicated to Surya Deva, the lord of wisdom and knowledge. This puja is performed to invoke blessings for a blissful life and to seek protection from Shani and Surya doshas.

Makar Sankranti, also known simply as Sankranti, is a harvest festival and a day of gratitude. It is a time when divine consciousness is believed to be particularly elevated, and even small spiritual acts on this day are thought to yield manifold benefits.

The Sankranti puja commences when the sun enters the Makara Rashi (Capricorn sign). During the puja, offerings of flowers and Akshath (sacred rice) are made, and a priest performs the ritual according to the scriptures and traditional procedures to seek the blessings of the lord.

Makar Sankranti falls on the 14th of January and is an occasion for devotees to express their gratitude to Surya Deva while seeking spiritual elevation and protection from malefic planetary influences.
