- The bilva tree is also known as the wood apple tree, and its leaves are considered sacred in Hindu religious practices. Each part of the bilva leaf has symbolic significance in the worship of Lord Shiva. The three leaflets of the bilva leaf are believed to represent the three eyes of Lord Shiva, and offering them is seen as a gesture of surrender and devotion.
- During Belpatra Puja, devotees offer the bilva leaves along with other customary items such as water, milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sometimes fruits. The offering is made while reciting sacred mantras and prayers dedicated to Lord Shiva.
