This homam is performed with the intention of increasing an individual’s life span, bestowing good health, preventing diseases, reducing suffering, eliminating obstacles and struggles in life, and averting untimely death. Through the Ayush Homam, devotees seek the blessings of Ayur Devatha, the deity of life, with the hope of dispelling ignorance, darkness, and emptiness from their lives. This ritual is a way of expressing the desire for a life filled with vitality, well-being, and longevity.

Only highly qualified Vedic priests/pandits perform this Homam once a year. And, can be conducted at own houses, or temples.

Most people accomplish this Ayushya havan at the naming ceremony of newborn babies. So, the child can grow healthy and live a happy, prosperous life. Also, people on their 60th, 80th, and 100th birth anniversaries perform this havan.
