Introduction

Vaseeswarar Temple is dedicated to God Shiva located at Vayalakavur at a distance of 26 Kms from Uthiramerur in Kancheepuram District. This Temple is also called as Vanatheeswarar Temple. Presiding deity is called as Vaseeswarar or Vanatheeswarar. Goddess is called as Yezhavaarkuzhali. This temple is about 2000 years old. This Temple was built by Pallava King Nandivarman. The Kumbabishekam of this temple was performed in the year 2010. The pooja to the God is rendered once a day in this temple presently. Separate Sannadhis of Lord Hayagrivar and Lord Anjaneya add special sanctity to this temple. There is also a holy tank for this temple. Pradosham and Poornima Pooja, Arudra Dharisanam, and Karthigai Somavara poojas are specially performed in this temple. ThalaVirutcham is Vilvam.
