Introduction

Adhikesava Perumal Temple is dedicated to God Vishnu located at Soundaryapuram Village in Vandavasi Taluk in Thiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Adhikesava Perumal and Mother is called as Ambujavalli Nayaki. Soundaryapuram Village is located on the Vandavasi – Kanchipuram route at around five km east of Thennangur.

Puranic Significance

The historic village of Soundaryapuram is famous as it is home to the Adikesava Perumal (Vishnu). The beautiful stone image of Adikesava Perumal is in a standing posture flanked by Goddesses Sridevi and Bhudevi. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.

Goddess Lakshmi is enshrined in this temple as Ambujavalli Nayaki. There are Shrines of Andal, Sudarshanazhwar, Garudazhwar, Vishwaksenar, Nammazhwar, Ramanujar, Nigamantha Maha Desikan and Srimad Adivan Sadagopa Yatindra Maha Desikan at this temple. Sri Padma Chakram in the Temple is highly sacred and powerful.

Special Features

On 22^nd May 2022, Sunday, Vaikasi- Avitta nakshtram; Annakoodai utsavam and Paduka sahasra parayanam, would be performed in Sri Ambhujavalli Nayika samedha Sri Adhikesava Perumal temple at Soundaryapuram village, in Thiruvannamalai district. The utsavam for the day starts with Divya prabhanda Parayanam, Paduka Sahasra Parayanam, followed by Vishesha thirumanjanam and Sattrumurai. Later in the evening, Perumal Garuda Sevai would take place. After nivedhanam, arrangements of annadhanam are also made.

Festivals

Purattasi Brahmotsavam, Panguni Uthiram, Masi Makam, Vaikasi Visakam, Thiru Karthikai, Vaikunda Ekadashi and Sravana Deepam are the festivals celebrated here.
