Siddhars and Stars…

Every human being is born under a specific lunar day (tithi) and star (nakshatra). If they identify and worship the Siddhars (enlightened sages) who were born under the same tithi or nakshatra, their problems may be resolved. This can be determined through one’s horoscope. Many people, despite their efforts, cannot attain divine grace due to their past karma. By worshiping the Siddhars born on their tithi or nakshatra, they can seek solutions to their issues. It is recommended to visit the Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi (final resting place) at least once, and subsequently observe fasting and worship at home on the corresponding tithi or nakshatra each month for beneficial results.

Historical records do not accurately mention the tithis on which the Siddhars were born, but they do specify the stars and the Tamil months. We provide this information below for you to follow and worship accordingly. Most Siddhars’ Jeeva Samadhis are located within Shiva temples.

  • The Siddhar for Ashwini Nakshatra is Kaalaanginathar. His Samadhi and spiritual energies are found at Kanjamalai and Thirukkadaiyur. Reciting the Siddhars’ names with respect serves as a mantra. Thus, one can say “Om Guruve Saranam” thrice followed by “Om Sri Kaalaanginathar Siddha Guruswamy Saranam… Saranam…”.

Other nakshatra-born individuals should follow the same mantra format, replacing Kaalaanginathar with the name of their respective Siddhar.
