Introduction

Sivarama Nangai Amman Temple is located in the Sivaramapettai Village, Tenkasi district, Tamilnadu.There are many temples associated with Ramayana in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. Among them is Sivaramanpettai, a small town in Tenkasi district. The Temple is believed to be 500 – 1000 years old. The temple is about five kilometres from Tenkasi on the Madurai National Highway near Sivaramapettai bus stop.

Puranic Significance 

Rama was the one who seduced Sita, Rama left for Sri Lanka to rescue Sita. On the way he rested at a place called Krishnapuram near Kadayanallur and drank water at a pond there. He stayed at a place and worshiped Shiva and then travelled to Sri Lanka. They say that the place where Lord Rama stayed and performed Shiva Puja is now known as Sivaramapettai today.

Agriculture has been the main occupation in this village. An idol of Amman was found plowing the field here in earlier times. At the spot where the idol was found, a small platform was erected and a temple was erected and worshiped as Shivarama Nangai Amman. No other temple of this name is known to exist anywhere else. This temple is special with a different name.

Beliefs

If you worship this goddess, you will get the grace of Shiva and the grace of Rama. It is believed that by worshiping Neem goddess, fatal diseases will be cured. Milk is poured into a small stone tank in front of the neem goddess. A serpent drank the milk offered in prayer.

Special Features

Sivarama has risen there in the sanctum towards the north. She is a village deity, a deity of desire and a family deity. There is a big neem tree in which the goddess gets her face embedded and is worshiped as neem goddess. Pachyamman, Sudalimadan, Brahmashakti Amman, Karuppasamy and Bhairava are prested in the temple.
