- Indra, fearing that Vishwarupa would take over his kingdom, tried to disrupt his penance but failed.
- Out of fear and jealousy, Indra beheaded Vishwarupa using his Vajrayudha, with the help of Taksha.
- Enraged by his son’s murder, Twashta performed a powerful Homa, creating Viratasura, a mighty Asura.
- Viratasura defeated Indra, but later, Indra cunningly befriended and killed him.
- As a result, Indra was afflicted with the sin of Brahmahatya, the most severe form of sin.
- To purify himself, Indra established the Pancha Madhava temples, seeking forgiveness from Lord Vishnu.
