Introduction
- The Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir comprises two temples located in London:
- One is situated off Ealing Road in Wembley, in the Brent area.
- The other is located in Whipps Cross, in the Waltham Forest area near Leytonstone.
- Both temples are managed by the Shri Vallabh Nidhi UK (SVNUK) charity, which follows the principles of Sanatan Dharma—the true and original name of the religion later referred to as Hinduism.
- The Leytonstone temple is known as the Shri Nathji Mandir, inaugurated in June 1980. The deities present in this temple include Shri Ram, Shrinathji, Shiv Parivaar, Amba Mataji, Jalaram Bapa, and Hanumanji.
Puranic Significance:
- The temple in Wembley, inaugurated in 2010, took 14 years to build. It was constructed with Indian limestone and adheres strictly to the teachings found in the holy scriptures. Remarkably, the temple was built without the use of steel supports.
- Construction Details:
- The temple spans an area of 2.4 acres (9,700 m²).
- 41 marble statues of deities were handcrafted in Sola, a town in Gujarat, India, and then shipped to the UK for assembly at the site.
- The interior of the temple is richly decorated, featuring intricate carvings on its pillars and walls, along with shrines adorned with painted figures of various deities.
- Unique carvings also feature Mother Teresa and Sikh Guru Nanak, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the temple’s design.
- At its highest point, the temple reaches 66 feet (20 meters) in height.
