Introduction

Location:

  • Situated in Poolankuruchi village, near Ponnamarathy, Pudukottai district, Tamil Nadu.
  • 5 km from Ponnamarathy.
  • The temple is located on a mountain range to the north and west of Singaravelan.

Deity: The presiding deity is Singaravelan (Lord Murugan) with His consorts Valli and Deivanai.

Puranic Significance:

  • The temple is believed to be over 1000 years old.
  • The temple features 32 pillars on the porch through the main gate and a three-tiered royal tower at the entrance.
  • A sacred Tirtha pond called Shanmuganathi lies to the east of the temple.
  • The temple is surrounded by a wall on all four sides.

  • The Durga Amman Shrine features sculptures of Duwara Shakti.
  • The Navagraha shrine includes Navagraha deities seated with their wives, and it is believed that worshiping here brings early marriage to devotees.
