Introduction

Malampatti Shiva Temple is located in the Malampatti village, IIuppur circle, Pudukottai district, Tamil Nadu. Two dilapidated temples are found inside the thorn forest on the northern side of Malampatti village. The first temple has 11th and 12th century sculptures of Nandi, Thirumal over the chest and warrior standing with a knife. There is also a sculpture on the temple wall of the king worshiping Shivalinga along with Devi. Adjacent to it in the north-east, there is another Shiva temple which is completely destroyed. A lingam with an audaiyar, a sculpture of Chandikeswarar nearby and a fragmentary inscription have been found. It is believed that this temple was built in 11th century.
