The Mahendravadi Rock Cut Cave Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is an important historical and religious site located in Mahendravadi Village in the Vellore District of Tamil Nadu, India.

Dedication: The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and the main deity in this temple is Lord Narsimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the form of a man-lion.
Builder: This rock-cut cave temple was constructed by Mahendravarman I, a Pallava king who ruled from 580 to 630 AD. The temple is a remarkable example of Pallava architecture and craftsmanship.

Artistic Features: The pillars and pilasters in the temple are adorned with decorative elements such as square, octagonal, and square kattu (band). Lotus medallions and flower medallions are carved on various parts of the temple’s architecture. Vettu potikas hold the prastara components. The facade features pillars and pilasters with anganas (bays) between them. The Ardhamandapam has vajanam running on all four sides. The sanctum is cubical and houses an image of Lord Narasimha.
Narasimha Deity: The image of Lord Narasimha in the sanctum is in a padmasana posture and is depicted as smiling. The deity wears a headband (Karandamakutam) with a chanka motif and various ornaments, including patra kundala (earrings), sarapali (necklace), and armlets. The Yagnopavita is worn in the niveta fashion, and the waist attire is intricately detailed.
Dwarapalakas: The temple features Dwarapalakas (guardians) on both sides of the sanctum. These guardian figures stand in a parsvakosana posture, with one foot slightly forward and their bodies displaying intricate details.
