- Proximity: The temple is located on the west bank of the river, near Periyakulam.

Architectural Features
- Emergence of Lingamurthy: The Lingamurthy of Gomuktheeswarar was discovered when a farmer, while digging a well on his land about 40 years ago, unearthed the deity. The Lingamurthy, which had been buried for a long time, was subsequently revered, and with the collective efforts of the villagers, a small temple was constructed in its honor.
- Gate Deities: At the east gate of the temple, there are shrines dedicated to Balamurugan (a form of Lord Murugan) and Siddhivinayakar (a form of Lord Ganesha).
- Navagraha Shrine: The Navagraha (Nine Planets) shrine is located in the northeast corner of the temple.
- Nandis: There are two Nandi statues (bulls), positioned one after the other, symbolizing strength and devotion, and placed in front of the sanctum of the temple.
Puranic Significance
- Kamadenu Worship: The temple is believed to be situated in a place where Kamadhenu, the divine cow, was worshiped. The village name Komangalam later transformed into Komal, reflecting its association with Kamadhenu.
- Lingamurthy’s Discovery: The discovery of the Lingamurthy from the well symbolizes the divine intervention of Lord Shiva in the daily lives of the locals, emphasizing the deity’s connection to nature and agriculture.
- Spiritual Benefits: Worshiping Gomuktheeswarar is believed to bring prosperity and wealth, particularly associated with the blessings of Kamadhenu, who is known for bestowing blessings of abundance.

- The temple celebrates regular prayers and special pujas throughout the year.
- Annual Festivals and special days are marked with devotion, attracting villagers and pilgrims to the temple to seek blessings for prosperity and well-being.
