Location: The Kakapora Temple is situated in Kakapora Town, which is located on the banks of the Jehlum River and Romshi, one of the tributaries of the Jhelum River. The temple is located in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India.

Historical Significance: Kakapora is a historically significant place associated with King Avantivarman of the Utpala dynasty and is mentioned in the Rajatarangini, a legendary and historical chronicle written by the Kashmiri historian Kalhana. The temple itself has a rich history, with its construction dating back to the 10th century CE.

Architectural Features: The Kakapora Temple is constructed in the center of a courtyard enclosed by a peristyle. Unfortunately, only the base of the sanctum and a few cells of the peristyle have been preserved. In the temple premises, you can find a sculpture of a female deity.

Religious Importance: The temple was under worship by Kashmiri Pandits until the 1980s, signifying its religious significance.
