Introduction
Kabilar Malai Thandayuthapani Swamy Temple is another Hill Temple located at Namakkal District of Tamilnadu. Thai Poosam festival is conducted very grandly; on that day a lot of Kavadis were taken around the taluk. Usually a temple is closed on three sides and only one way is opened so that cosmic energy flow continuously giving benefits to people visiting the temple. Muruga temple situated in a hill, on the back side of lord Muruga, air flows through a hole which is made naturally helping lamps to give light continuously. The Temple is believed to be 1500 years old. This temple is situated at a distance of 28 kms from Namakkal to jedarpalayam via Paramathi Velur.
Puranic Significance
Sage Kapilamagarishi used to sit on a rock on the south side of the Uchchipillaiyar temple on the top of Kabilarmalai and meditate on Lord Murugan. Even today, the place where Kabila Maharishi performed penance on that rock looks unique. Kabila Maharishi has been worshiped daily since ancient times. Special poojas are performed at the place where Kabila Maharishi performed penance during the festival. Kabila Maharishi worshiped Lord Murugan who described himself as a self-appearing deity on this hill. After that, he is said to have dedicated the idol of Lord Murugan and worshiped it. Kabila Maharishi stays here and worships Lord Murugan from penance. There is also a Kapila Theertham on the hilltop. These messages are mentioned in one of the Vadamozhi Thala Puranas.
