Introduction

Sri Sangameswara temple is located near the village of Upperpally, 14 km. west of Zaheerabad Town. It is a unique cave temple dedicated to lord shiva the primary deity is Sangameswara Swamy. It has a garbhagriha with Siva Linga as Mulavirat. On the lintel portion of the garbhagriha, Ganesha is carved. Originally this might have been a Jain cave which was subsequently converted into Sangameswara temple. The cave might have been scooped during the medieval period. Based on the architectural features of the doorjambs it can be dated back to the 17th – 18th Century A.D.
