Introduction

Prasat Phum pon is located at Sangkha District, Surin, Thailand. This set of religious Khmer ruins comprises four stupas, with three made from bricks and one from laterite. The stupas were built at different times, during at least two separate eras. The largest stupas, located in the northern part, are the oldest Khmer ruins in Thailand, built around the 7-8th century. Like other religious sites built in the same era, Phum Pon Khmer Ruins was built as a Shiva worship place. Ancient ruins of the temple Prasat Phum Pon – it remains one of the oldest Khmer temples of Thailand. It was built in the VII-VIII centuries BC. Ruins are located in the heart of the village of Ban. In ancient times, the temple was quite large and beautiful, but with the passage of the time it was abandoned and as a result almost completely destroyed. These ruins are better able to reflect the beautiful Khmer architecture that was once quite popular. To date, some preserved buildings, towers and foundations that existed before the temple. Most overgrown with greenery. Valuable artifacts found in the temple, were placed in the Museum Bangkok to save the old splendor ancient buildings.
