Introduction
Maruthuvakudi Kasi Viswanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Maruthuvakudi village, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. There are two Shiva temples in this Maruthuvakudi village. Dukashi Vishwanath Temple on the east of the road. This Kashi Viswanath temple is more than 500 years old. This temple, which was in a state of disrepair for many years, was flooded in November 2022.
The temple main gate is located in the south because the Lord is facing east side. Although it looks small, the temple complex is huge with an area of one acre. The Presiding deity is called as Lord- Kashiviswanathar and Mother is called as Kashivisalakshi, here the lord facing East side and ambikai facing South side sanctum connecting the two in a cone shaped mandapam set up in the style of the Nayak period. In the eastern part of the mandapam there is a Nandi outside the entrance of the temple. The Lord has a medium-sized Lingamurthy. In the north-east corner of the hall is Bhairav Sun and Saturn. There is Tenmukan Durgai in Karurai Kottam.
